Gum Disease Queries

Recently been diagnosed with what my dentist said is mild periodontal disease. I’m 35 weeks pregnant and she thinks pregnancy has aggravated it. My plaque score today was 40% and bleeding score 50%.

Booked in for a deep clean next week and dentist seems quite hopeful we can get it and keep it stable.

My concern though is I’ve read a lot about the impact of gum disease on heart health, dementia risk, fertility and other general health. Is this the case even if gum disease is stable and remains that way or is it increased risk with active gum disease? Can’t seem to find any information anywhere

I've got/had it and luckily not had any other issues health wise.

I started using teepee picks/brushes and floss on gaps too small and it helped immensely. No more inflammation and soreness

its increased risk with any gum disease. pregnancy does make any existing gum disease more inflamed/obvious.

I wouldnt worry, I would just focus on improving oral hygiene - if done properly you can eliminate/reduce gum disease. agree tepe brushes and flossing consistently will help massively.
