Is anyone else unwell all the time?

I'm wondering if it's just me or if it's a possible thing other people have noticed.

The past 2 winters from probably September until April I am ill ALL THE TIME. Just back to back colds/flu, with stomach bugs inbetween for good measure. I have a 2 year old but even if she hasn't been poorly, I get ill. Or if she is poorly I'm the only one in the family who will catch it.

I've had cold and sore throat and feeling awful since 22nd December, haven't got rid of that and I've got a tickly cough and feel achy tonight like it's starting again. I'm always tired, hair falling out a lot. I'm only 35! I've spent a fortune on vitamins....

Anyone else??

Since I started taking a multivitamin every day I'm hardly ever ill.

Hi @snowinlove123

I am in a similar situation. GP is monitoring my blood test results.

Have you had COVID?

It has been suggested to me this could be due to COVID (which seems likely to me). All my issues started when I had COVID.

If it's September to April, it could be a vitamin deficiency? How long have you been taking them for?

Could it be an allergic reaction?

Yep...I have posted about it too... Has whooping cough in Oct last year..a cold..covid...fine all summer...now some fuxking awful head thing making me cough and blocking my ears...3 weeks in. I am soooo miserable!

Yes me. I seem to go through phases. I think it used to be very much linked to heavy periods but no longer have them. I’m pretty much at menopause now and there’s definitely been an improvement. I seem to go through strong health phases where I don’t pick things up and then long periods when I seem to get ill on a regular basis.

Having teenagers doesn’t help, they pick everything up at school, on the bus etc and pass it all on to me.

Yep, ever since I had my first bout of Covid. It's shit.

It sounds like it could be long covid?
Covid can damage your immune system too so you are more likely to pick up other infections :-(

Things that might help if affordable:

  • Wear an FFP2 mask in indoor public spaces where practical (especially health settings, supermarket, public transport, nursery etc).
  • use an antiviral nasal spray before mixing indoors with people who aren't in your household and at the first sign of any symptoms eg Boots Dual Defence, Viraleze or similar
  • HEPA air purifiers at home
  • speak to nursery to see if there's anything extra they can do to reduce spread of infections there (this could be around ventilation/filtration or asking adults with cold symptoms to wear a mask in the building etc)
  • consider private flu and covid vaccines if you are not eligible on the NHS
  • make sure your little one is up to date on vaccines
  • wear a mask around your little one if she is ill
  • speak to your GP, explain your symptoms and get some blood tests run
Good luck I hope you find some improvements soon 💐
