I’ve stupidly managed to poke myself in my eye with the arm of my glasses. Do I need to do anything? It hurts but isn’t too bad. I can see fine. Is it urgent?

Eye injury? I wouldn't risk it.

In the same way, a small cut on your skin can become infected, a small abrasion or cut needs to be taken care of.

Ouch, I think with eye injury you should go either to A &E or if you have a local eye hospital see if they have an emergency department. Most likely it will be fine, but it's not worth the risk.

Good chance it’ll be fine but I wouldn’t risk it personally.

Called 111 and they’ve said A&E too. Thanks all. Just waiting for a lift!

@Stygimoloch how are you now?

Nail123 · 03/01/2024 21:02

My son had similar. We went to A&E and they sent us to minor injuries who did a few checks but said come back the next day to Eye Casualty.

Eye Casualty were great, did all their checks and luckily nothing wrong with the eye….just a bruise.

Go straight to Eye Casualty if you haven’t already been.

@minmooch thanks for asking. Very similar to what @Nail123 described with her son. A&E sent me to urgent care. They put some drops in to check for damage and did some tests. All good. Looks worse than it is I think. Basically a bruise that should absorb back in. Still really sore though and looks dreadful! Can’t be too careful with eyes though so glad I got checked.
