Firstly is that how you spell it? lol Google seems to give me 2 spellings of it...confused!

Anyway anyone had one? Aparently my cervix looks quite red and raw (nice!) and am having abnormal bleeding so have been reffered. (Plus am waiting for swabs to come back)

What are they like? Cheers.

i had a letz biopsy(think thats the speling?) for abnormal smear, i had CIN3 which could have progressed to cervical cancer..its bascially when they lezer the bed calls away, you sound dfifferent however?, they may just be getting you in for examination?, have you ahd a recent smear? was it ok if so?

Well its not the most pleasant time you'll spend in hospital but wasn't very much longer than a smear iirc. And most nurses do a good job of distracting you by talking about the weather etc...

Hope they find out what's wrong soon. I had abnormal cells which required treatment, was a few yrs back and none of it was really traumatising (v worrying at time though, obv.)

Had this done last week and it really isnt that much worse than a smear ,certainly no more uncomfortable. I also had the loop diathermy at the same time ( when they cut a bit of your cervix off ) and that wasnt painful either. If your smears have been fine ,perhaps you have cervical erosion , not sure what causes this though . Anyway good luck , hope it all goes well for you .

If you are bfeeding take loads of breast pads with you. All that fiddling around with my cervix made me let down and I was soaked.

Cried loads and the nurse gave me a carton of juice from her packed lunch.

I felt about five.

It wasn't painful though. Just like a smear but takes about 5-10 mins.

I had these done every year for a while. as the others have said, it's a bit like a smear but takes a bit longer. If you're really lucky you might get to see your cervix on the tv

Agree with all the other posters, not much difference to a smear test, pain wise.

One thing I would say though is, I got a really bad dose of cystitis a couple of days later. Might be worth getting some powders in, just in case.
