Cochlear hydrops??

Hi, I think I've got this.

My symptoms are pressure in right ear, constant tinnitus, loud sounds make me feel pressured and all music sounds out of tune. Robotic voices seem to come and go. I have all the symptoms according to Wikipedia. It's just like menieres but no vertigo. Had it for 3 weeks, no let up.

Would love to chat and find out more. @TheRedShoes75 @inigomontoyahwillcox I see you've talked about this before. Any tips?

Hi @Puppupandaway how are you now, have you seen anyone about this? I've been waiting nearly a year for an ent appointment for episodes of tinnitus, hyperacusis and occasionally vertigo.

Hi! I had an mri on Friday but nothing from ENT yet. They put my referral in mid December. It's so frustrating isn't it. I've been put on betahistine which is helping but hasn't gotten rid of it completely. I can't drive until it's sorted as I had vertigo while I was driving and it really scared me.

My dr is saying that it started as cochlear hydrops but I'm now having vertigo, so he's changed the working diagnosis to menieres. I actually had an attack at an appointment so he could see that my eyes flicker etc.

Have you got the nhs app? You can see where your referral is at on there. I've been given a number to phone on 14th feb if I've heard nothing.

Good luck, it's no fun is it? Xxx

Not fun at all, I've had a few months with no symptoms and was hoping that was the end, but it's back again. Have you noticed any triggers or patterns? I do get some warning signs, feeling a bit off and my hearing changes, so thankfully haven't been caught unawares while driving etc, that must have been scary for you. Hope your appointment comes through quickly!

@curlykate99 Thank you, hope your appointment comes through soon too.

I haven't really noticed any triggers, it just seems to come and go as it pleases. I've noticed that increased ear pressure usually brings light headedness with it, but the tinnitus can be a separate thing with no other symptoms. I thought the vertigo only happened when I woke up, but last time it happened an hour later, when I was driving.

I'm hoping they see something on my mri scan....but apparently if it is menieres then nothing will show.

The unpredictability is annoying isn't it. I had to miss my child's birthday party with one episode. Fortunately the last few times I've just felt unsteady rather than having the full on vertigo, the hearing symptoms are more prominent for me now. It's such a weird illness!
