Started with a sore throat/cough blocked nose etc on Friday. By Friday night my knees were aching a little and I had a mild ache to one side of my neck. Yesterday, my neck pain got worse so I stayed on paracetamol throughout the day. Through the night, it has ached so much it hurts whenever I move it. If I swallow I have just noticed it slightly causes my neck to hurt, but it's mainly when I move it. My throat is not sore enough to cause this much pain in my neck I wouldn't of thought. I am due paracetamol, so maybe it's worse because of that, but if I didn't have the neck pain/ache I wouldn't be to concerned over my symptoms. I would just think bad cold or flu with achy joints etc. do you think it warrants a doctors trip ?

It sounds like a really heavy cold to me. I would just keep taking the paracetamol and if you have a hot water bottle/microwave “hottie”, use that to soothe your neck. Hope you feel better soon.

I think you should call 111 for advice op. It’s probably not, but neck stiffness can by a main symptom of meningitis (aching joints eg. Your knees, can be another). Do you have a high temperature, or is bright light bothering you at all? I’d ring just to he on the safe side.

I hope you are feeling better soon.
