Eczema?

My 15month old has small, mild patches of eczema on either side of his jaw, and also 2 on each arm (bizarrely symmetrical!)/ They are easily kept under control with a hydrocortisone cream (Dactacort), but he has recently developed another blemish on one cheek (no symmetry this time!) which he has now had for a couple of months. I've tried leaving it be, sudocrem, and eventually dactacort, but nothing has cleared it up. It settles down a bit (but never completely) and then flares up again for no apparent reason. At the moment it looks a bit scabby, like it may be getting infected. It doesn't seem to bother him at all. Any ideas what it might be, and how I can treat it? Perhaps related to teething?

my ds has it but i keep it under control by PREVENTING it rather than TREATING it as the hydro creams you shouldnt use for long periods as it thins the skin so i get oilatum for the bath, doublebase cream which is a big pump of moisterisor on prescription from gp. I also have allerif from gp for at nights when it is bad to stop him itching. I used to use the hydro quite abit and was worried about it so i went to health shop and they gave me a cream called relief and it is completely natural and ds hasnt had a flare up since using it! I put it on twice a day. It is really fantastic. The trick is keeping the skin well moisterised. I completley cover ds in the double base each night.

Yes your right, I should focus on prevention rather than cure. And thanks for the tip about Relief, I will seek that out!

no problem! just remember MOISTERISE MOISTERISE MOISTERISE!! You could also put cream on whenever you do a nappy change to start with to get into the habit and to start it off then go down to once or twice a day
