Hi all,

I've posted about this before but I was wondering if anyone has any idea what this could be?

I went to hospital about a week and a half ago as I had really bad abdominal pain radiating into my back. The doctor thought it was gastroenteritis and I had a UTI so took my anti biotics and got on with it.

I started my period the day after but it was heavier than normal, I had to change my pad every couple of hours and I still had the pain, I've had the pain all this time but have been managing with paracetamol but I've had some really painful bowel movements along with my period.

It stopped yesterday and then today I've had brown blood with clots the size of about 5ps and I'm really concerned about it along with the pain.

I've struggled to speak to a GP with it being Christmas but with it now going on to nearly two weeks I don't know if I should go back to hospital.

I'm really paranoid about wasting time, someone previously has mentioned it potentially being a cyst but I don't feel like the pain is enough for that. It hurts but paracetamol takes the edge off but the pain is making me feel a bit light headed every now and then.

I don't know what to do, part of me thinks it's "lady problems" get over it but it feels like it's been going on awhile now.

I know this is silly as well but I'm scared to get help as I can't deal with examinations due to previous sexual assault .. I'm diagnosed with CPTSD but I'm also worried it could be something serious so just looking for some reassurance.

do you mean your period stopped yesterday and clots today? Having infections and being unwell can affect your period, so I wouldn’t necessarily tie the two up together. And I don’t think 5p sized brown clots are concerning at end of period. I’d more be concerned that your antibiotics have not cleared your UTI and ask for a repeat/another urine test.

Pain with bowel movements, where?
Any blood with the uti? My dd recently had a uti that looked like pure blood, day 3 was Brown and stringy.
Cysts can be very deceiving wee fuckers, my best friend had one that was at times a bit annoying, other times made her pass out. Was put down to age(what a surprise eh?). It eventually ruptered, she fair got tea and sympathy then from the same dismissive colleagues she worked with.

The pain with the bowel movement were in my tummy, it was really bad cramping.

There was no blood with my UTI, I actually get them quite often but never had any blood with them.

I guess it might be because I've been unwell but my periods never been this heavy, I've never been in pain for this long and never passed clots apart from when I had my babies which is why I've been worried but if it doesn't sound concerning to others then I'll leave it.

Thank you for the replies x

One thing I have read about when women suffer these kind of symptoms is to take a pregnancy test to rule out an ectopic pregnancy so I’d definitely do that.
I would also go back to GP as you were diagnosed with a UTI and after treatment the pain is still present.

I have had ovarian cysts since my teenage years which cause horrendous pain. Do you have any history of cysts? Mine have ruptured in the past which has led to me being in absolute agony and even fainting. I have terrible periods too and fill pads in 20 mins and lose awful clots.

I recently went to the doctors as I’ve been having persistent abdominal pain which has moved into my back and now shoots down my legs. I have also started to lose control of my bladder and I just feel like crap to put it bluntly.
My doctor tested a urine sample, did bloods and referred me for an ultrasound. Urine sample was clear but bloods show a heightened CA-125 level so I’m now currently on the two week ovarian cancer pathway which was not what I was expecting, especially over Christmas.

My ultrasound showed a 10cm cyst on my ovary (that’s the biggest my cysts have ever been, usually between 3-5cm) and I have another appointment next week for the next steps. Thankfully the radiologist has said she didn’t see anything too worrying on my ultrasound and that the cyst, albeit huge, does not appear to have any weird edges etc so she made me feel reassured for now. I’m hoping it’s just this big cyst pushing on nerves and my bladder causing my symptoms. Trying not to freak out.
