Giardia infection...

So I believe (but haven't had formal tests yet) that's I've got giardiasis infection. I have all the classic symptoms. Explosive diarrhoea, HORRIFIC smelling/ tasting burps which are waking me up in the night they're so frequent. Loss of appetite, stomach cramps. I swam in a river a few weeks ago which has been found to have substantial sewage. Has anyone had this and got any remedies for the burps? Honestly I feel so sick every time I do one and the stench fills the room.
I'm away at the moment but will be seeing GP on Friday when I'm home.

You poor thing, it's the most horrific bug! I had it many years ago and remember the terror of needed to go to the loo with about a minutes warning. Don't remember having burps though so no remedies to offer. I would highly recommend working on probiotics and eating for gut health once the infection has been resolved, my gut never fully recovered and I now wonder if it would have if I'd been more aware.
