Itchy labia majora

I’ve been having this itch at the same spot for years and years and there are never any lesions or discharge unless I get careless and scratch the itch straight on the skin instead of on top of underwear.

I don’t any STDs or other vaginal issues and been doing research and it doesn’t match any symptoms of allergy or skin conditions since it is at the same spot always and only on one side.

Any ideas? I’m fed up with it and I feel like a man scratching his balls when I’m trying to get relief - the itch comes and goes ramdonly and I mostly use breathable cotton underwear and lose pants / trousers.

Should I speak to my GP first and get a referral or go straight to a SH clinic?

Thanks in advance, I know it is a weird topic

Has lichen sclerosus been excluded? I'm not a medic but know someone who has it.

Lichen sclerosis

Whereabouts exactly is the itch? On the hairy bit or inside? I am thinking maybe dermatitis?

I have had this since I hit perimenopause (on the outside and mainly a patch on one side) and I use cetraben in copious amounts which seems to help. I use oestrogen cream as well.

Lichen sclerosis, it seems like it could be it

Do I just book an appt with the GP and tell them about my suspicion?

I didn't think lichen sclerosis was on the hairy bit and it can cause white patches. I might be wrong though. Mine wasn't prescribed only the hormone cream. I buy cetraben over the counter a big bottle with a pump dispenser for about £15. I find it very soothing and seems to keep mine at bay.

The skin around my clit is my itchy spot and it’s driving me nuts!

manipulatrice · 27/12/2023 15:48

Yup, sounds like LS to me. I have a prescribed cream which numbs it and stops the itch.
It's important to keep the area well moisturised as well with a barrier, doctors can prescribe that too.

I don’t seem to have a white patch but if this cream is safe to apply I’m willing to try
