I had a chest X-ray last week after suffering with a bad cough & coughing some blood stained mucus up regularly especially in the mornings. I've had a message back from my gp and the X-ray needs repeating in 4 weeks which I've booked. I'll attach the report from my NHS app but can anyone tell me what "probably composite" means? Is this likely nothing, or something to be concerned about? I can't find anything on Google regarding the composite comment.

Essentially there is something tiny there that wasn’t there 10 years ago, and may represent changes related to your chest infection on top of the rib behind it . It doesn’t sound worrying .

Thank you. If it was related to infection why would it need rechecking? I thought if it showed a chest infection if would be treated rather than rechecked?

It is probably from a recent infection you have had. My friend had this a while ago, had repeat chest X-ray a mont later and it had gone.
