Sore throat for over a week, anyone else?

It’s been a very long time since I’ve had a sore throat, but this is something else!

Ive had a horrible sore throat for over a week now. No other symptoms, feel fine in myself. But this throat is just agony. I’m living on ibuprofen, strepsils and chloroseptic spray. I’ve not had this little sleep since my kids were newborn, I wake up every couple of hours max with the pain.

GP has seen a picture (not easy to take a photo of your own throat!) and as expected, it’s probably viral and there’s nothing I can do.

Anyone else had this? How much longer might I be suffering? (Lighthearted. Sort of).

I have this too!! I've had just a sore throat for 9 days, no other cold or flu symptoms. It's now turned to just one side of my throat and is so irritating! I've taken more ibuprofen and strepsils in this past week then ever before in my life. Whatever it is, I'm absolutely sick of it!

Did anyone get to the bottom of this, mines been 12 days now with no other symptoms apart from sore throat

Im so much better, but honestly I still do get days here and there when my throat gets a bit sore. Nowhere near as bad as it was, but I’m definitely still noticing it happening. Was over the worst by about 2 weeks.

I remember a GP explaining once that your tonsils are your first line of defence so they flare up when you’ve been in contact with something. Maybe that’s all I’m noticing now? Who knows.

Hope those still suffering with it are feeling better soon. Have you been back to your GP given the length of time you’ve had it?

Glad you’re feeling better it gives me some hope. I got in right in the middle of a gum infection cause of my wisdom teeth, they’ve referred me now to have them out, I went doctors they prescribed antibiotics for 5 days which initially helped then it came back last week been off work since, the doctor took a swab after the antibiotics & said it’s not strep. But been like this now for nearly 2 weeks, she said if it’s not better by next week they will refer me, it’s literally like tonsilitus but no other symptoms apart from hot flushes every now & then, never had a sore throat past this long.

I’ve had the sore throat for about 10 days, but seems to have moved to my sinuses. Very sneezy and snotty since yesterday and woke up with sinus area aching, even my teeth hurt.

How is everyone feeling now?
I’ve had a red raw throat, more of a burning pain for 10 days, plus some ulcers, anyone else experience this?
