Liver cancer

Hi everyone

My dear BIL has had a CT scan showing lesions on his liver, lungs and lymph nodes. He's not been given a diagnosis yet, but has been given an appointment with an oncology consultant which is a bit of a giveaway.

It started with a cough, then he felt indigestion and was admitted as his liver enzymes seemed high in a blood test. He has been discharged now.

Can anyone suggest support groups, boards, questions we should ask, anything we should be looking at? How do we prepare for this? I'd appreciate any advice on what to expect and how I can help, I love them both so much.

Hi,
Really sorry for your and your family. This is a super stressful time and very difficult to prepare for any outcome.

I think there are two important things:

  1. If the cancer has metastasized (and if those lesions are cancerous, then it has), then the diagnosis is more challenging.
  2. Try not to google prognosis++, recent improvements are significant and not reflected in old data.

I live in Denmark, so not sure about resources you can access, but I'm sure someone wiser than me will know.

Sorry for your situation. I've been there.
