I told him that I have nasal mucus, but usually every morning I spit out phlegm with blood. He examined me, told me something like “bronchitis,” and prescribed me medications.
I'm worried that something serious, like lung cancer; he gave me consent for an x-ray test, told me not to worry, nothing seemed serious but I was still afraid.
I don't know what to think? I don't know if this is a health concern or not, but my mind keeps telling me that it could be lung cancer.

It's most likely you have a little graze in your windpipe, especially if you are coughing a lot. I was coughing up what looked like blood clots but was probably blood and phlegm mixed together. Could only get a phone appointment with the nurse, who increased my asthma inhaler dose. That was it. Still no idea what it was but I stopped coughing up blood after a day or 2.

If you've had a sore throat/cough/chest infection and you're seeing little streaks of blood in your phlegm for a few days then it is likely just to be because the lining of your trachea/throat is irritated. If it persists then it may be something more serious but it's more likely to be something mild. You've seen a doctor and been referred for an x-ray (if I've understood you correctly), so at the moment there isn't much more you can do. Try not to worry and it will hopefully clear up fairly soon.

If you're coughing a lot you can damage your windpipe. Give it a week or so and see if it stops with the medicine.

I thought I had a bog-standard winter cough until I started coughing up blood. I was told I had a chest infection, given antibiotics and steroids and was told off for not going to the doctor earlier!

This happened to my dad. He would collect it in vials in the fridge. Lifelong smoker.

It wasn’t lung cancer.

Try not to panic.

@elliejjtiny I'm glad you're okay now, I didn't have a cough, the doctor told me I'm breathing normally. I was stuttering because of my anxiety. I want to go for an x-ray test, but I'm afraid something will be discovered
