It’s best they see you F2F as they now have dermscopes that have a light that can spot cancer. They can’t always tell from a photo. Your mole is a bit asymmetrical so that’s probably why they want to check it in person.

Have you got any moles like that hun xx

Doesn’t look weird to me.

I was referred in a 2ww for a skin lesion. The dermatologist said it was benign on the spot. He looked at another area and also said it was benign but wanted it removed. They look up close with a special tool and check the size etc F2F, impossible to do via picture.

This was mine.

I don’t remember tbh. It was on the back of my leg so I rarely saw it.

Hey, I had a new mole appear at 35. Similarly to yours it was brown and a bit irregular in shape. I went to the derm, he advised we watch and wait on it and then after 2 months I was advised to have it removed as on second exam it had changed.

It was totally benign, nothing wrong with it at all. In positive terms, yours isn't dark, or red, or crusty or bleeding which are all bad signs (mine was pretty red all the time and was still fine!) It is pretty standard to refer to a specialist if you've reported it changing or growing because the doctor needs to look at it under a magnifying glass to see if it really is something to worry about or not. Try not to panic, it will most likely be fine

I had a large, irregular shaped mole removed a few months ago. Took 8 weeks for biopsy results to come through - it was atypical but not malignant. Just a big weird mole! Try not to worry, even if it's not good the treatment is pretty simple - most just need removing. Friend of mine had one that was dodgy after biopsy so the hospital just removed another margin of healthy skin for safety. Nothing more required.
