Ouch - I've got piles and am due to give birth in 6 weeks so it's only going to get worse. And not only that but I can't find the anusol!!!

I prefer gemaloids , sorry mush sympathies.

Six weeks is time enough to see an improvement. Lots of water and fruit. Get your legs raised (oo-er missus) as often as possible. Go heavy on the cream and/or suppositories (I prefer Germaloids too ).

Are you taking iron tablets? If so, switch to something like Spatone sachets which won't make you constipated.

I think I gave birth to DD2 with piles and what with everything else going on, didn't give it a second thought. Until the next day! [eek]

Thanks for the advice. Just sent DH out for some supplies!! They have to get embarrassed about something! Have resigned myself to the fact that I will be walking strangely for a few days afterwards anyway!!

are u taking lactulose

sophiebbb · 15/03/2008 09:28

its excellent, its basically a laxative but so mild u can use everyday and it can be given to babys, when iw as pregnant with dd iw as crippled with constipation which in turn caused piles, but this lactulose stuff softens up the poo so when your piles are painful it wont hurt to get it out

GerrardWinstanley · 15/03/2008 10:45

oh yes get lactulose. I was only prescribed it with about 6 or 8 weeks to go but it was fan-bloody-tastic. I told everyone about its miraculous powers - PIL very pleased to know all about my toilet troubles

My piles definitely got much better before the birth, so I didn't really notice them although I'm sure they popped out during labour . Also very useful to have some in for after the birth so you don't have to strain too much.

Ah, the glamour of motherhood

sophiebbb · 15/03/2008 10:48

Right - on the case! My mother-in-law staying at the moment as well to help me through last weeks and she also has to put up with all the heartburn, constipation conversations - well her son did get me into this mess!!!!
