Do young children feel ill with conjunctivitis?

Ds 15 months has got what I assume is conjunctivitis. He has seemed a bit hot but not got a temperature. He has been grizzly [sp] and fell asleep in the car on the way home about 3 hours ago and has only stirred once since. just wondering if he might be feeling unwell.

my dd2 (20 months) has had 3 seperate bouts of conjunctivitis, each time it seems to have followed a cold, so i think perhaps she was still feeling poorly (cold like sypmtoms). I would recommed getting some drops asap, as they really clear it up. You notice the difference within a couple of applications (though don't stop until 2 days after it has completely cleared otherwise it may come back).
hope he feels better soon x

Yes conjunctivitis often follows a cold as the tear ducts can get blocked and then infected.

I am not sure about conjunctivitis directly causing those symptoms though.

Thanks, yes he has just had a cold. He's still asleep I can't believe it.

how contagious are they when they have conjunctivitis?? dd2 had it yesterday and nothing today. its dd1 birthday party tomorrow, should i get dh to take dd2 out (really dont want to)?? other kids will range from 3-10 yrs old.
dd2 is also on antibiotics for a sore throat.

what to you think?? should dd2 stay for party or not??
