Front tooth extraction and implant same day?

Has anyone had this done?
I have a front bottom tooth that has been through root canal treatment twice in the last decade and it's been causing me pain again for the last couple of months. I've been putting off seeing the dentist about it as I can't really afford it, but I also can't leave it forever
I know they're going suggest extraction but my job involves being visible and I can't have a gap there for a month or however long it takes between removal and implant. Is it ever possible to have it same day or next day treatment?

I don't have an answer but am interested in your replies as I am in exactly the same predicament except mine is my top tooth!

I have a front (top) implant. I was given a temporary false tooth after extraction, while I healed/implant process continued. I wasn’t left with a gap at all.

So in my experience they had to put the implant 'base' into the bone and let that heal for a few weeks before they then put in the post with the fake tooth on it. So there wasn't a way to have it all done and dusted in a day. However, I was offered a retainer with a fake tooth attached to it to wear cosmetically in the mean time. Mine was on the top, but I'd guess there is some solution for a cosmetic temporary solution for a bottom front tooth.

If the tooth is infected , and it sounds as if it is , they will not place an implant immediately. Even if they do it will only be the bottom part of the implant with no tooth on , so it is not put under any stress until it heals.
However they can put a "sticky bridge" on immediately so you have a tooth whilst everything is healing .

Thanks everyone. This has given me some confidence that I won't be expected to go about my life with a very visible gap while treatment goes on!

Like others I had a temporary tooth fitted. My ancient, front top, root canal tooth broke and the dentist got me in for an early appointment to remove the remains, took an impression and the next lunchtime I had another appointment. At this appointment I was given a tooth attached to a hard plastic pink thing (a partial denture?) that I pop in and out as I choose, "glued" with fixodent.

The tooth was made by technicians and is a perfect match. You need to practice speaking at first a bit as a bit lispy.

An implant will be fitted in 2 stages in the new year and I will wear denture during this time.
