Talk me down - my eye looks weird ...

Afternoon

I’m aware I may have a slight touch of health anxiety about this so by all means tell me to stop being daft.

Background - in case its relevant I’m currently on thyroxine and HRT patches. Last had bloods taken for thyroid in the spring. I also wear glasses (last test in the summer and all good) and the prescription in my left eye is very high … I’m hoping the freakish magnification may be a contributing factor. I’ve also always been prone to mild conjunctivitis which may get a few times a year in either eye. This is a ends to clear itself up within a few days.

Anyway - and thanks for bearing with me - My sleep has gone crap again lately with early morning wake ups, followed by heaacahes and slightly bloodshot eye. Happening 3 to 4 nights a week complete with night sweats ramping up again. Again didn’t want to drip feed in case relevant.

Yesterday I was obsessed with looking at my slightly bloodshot left eye when I noticed what appeared to be - the white of my eye , when I looked in a mirror and to my right to show the inner corner, seems to have very slightly receded towards the middle of my eye more than my other one. I know this sounds odd.

There is absolutely no pain, discomfort at r no odd feelings n my eye and also no visual disturbances at all. No weeping or gunge either.

As soon as I noticed it I immediately started imagining something awful and the anxiety made me feel so sick I had to lie on my cold kitchen floor and let the faint feeling pass 😁

DH is adamant on looking it just looks a bit pink but looks like a normal eye. It didn’t seem quite as bad this am and now.

Any ideas? I’d take a pic but I’d probably pass out. Can the white of an eye shrink a little? I actually feel a bit stupid asking the question …

I'm not quite sure what you mean...is it that the white of your eye has developed a dimple/seems hollowed out? Or does the white of your eye seem to be dragging the iris (coloured bit) out of shape?

If you can't take a photo, could you draw a simple diagram to show what is happening?

I’ve got fat lumps in my eye, was told they are normal.

Thanks both. Ok I've put my big lady draws on and done a picture. And I don't feel faint, yay.

Excuse my awful face - no make up and about to jump in shower. I've tried to catch It and i think you can just about see.

Don't think it's the fat thing although googling that and I came across something called Pterygium which I'll look into more.

I can’t see your picture, but it’s unlikely to be a pterygium, they don’t happen quickly.

just go and see your optician tomorrow (they’ll fit you in) and ask them what it is.

It actually looks better tonight but absolutely I will make sure I get in asap

It look like a boringly normal eye to me

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 12/12/2023 21:07

Although slightly reminiscent of the close up at end of Blair Witch Project?!

But thank you as I'm hoping I'm looking for problems and is it indeed boringly normal.

Update - I popped in to see an optician this am who had a good look and assured me it's all normal Grin
