Thyroid Results help please

So I have had an underacrive thyroid for prob 20 years managed with Levothyroxine. My endrocinogist decided a over a year ago to wean me off it. Why I don't know. Last years bloods TSH 3.1. She still continued weaning down by 0.25ucg- blood test in a year. I had to really chase the blood test TSH now 4.6. I received a phonecall and letter addressed to me from another endo at the same practise to increase Levothyroxine and restest bloods in 6 weeks. I would just like to know people's opinions on this.

I have felt so bad the last 6 months I started antidepressants, my relationship has suffered, work, home management. I have been sleeping 12 hrs a night. I am feeling angry at this Dr as when TSH was 3 she should have stopped weaning, as I was stable with TSH 1 for years. I am struggling with how to feel. I feel she has robbed me of a year of my life. I have a skiing holiday coming up and don't know how I will cope. Everything aches. Work, home, relationships and physical fitness have suffered. Thank you for any opinions/advice.

That's awful! You need to ask why as it sounds like they made a mistake.

Drs don't get it. Yes there is a range but everyone's normal is different. I know I function best if my TSH is between 2.5-3. After recent surgery (where I had to come off Levo for awhile) and a big weight loss mine plummeted to 7.5 and I felt like death. Although on their "tests" I was "just out of range"
I went back in and calmly explained my symptoms, where I believed I needed to be to function like a normal person and we are on the path of getting it back up and I feel much better.
I've found over the years I've had to advocate quite strongly for myself in regards to my thyroid as if you have a GP who doesn't understand the disease they just look at the numbers and not the individual. It affects us all in different ways.
I would speak to your DR and tell them how you are feeling and how much better you felt when your level was 3.1. Although why an Endo would even want to wean you off thyroxine is baffling - it can't be cured so what did they think it would achieve?

Thank you both for your replies. I know I am best with my tsh around 1. I don't understand why she was weaning either @Womble75 . I hadn't lost weight or anything, not that she would know, as it is all phone calls. Wean thyroxine were her exact words in the clinic letter. I hope now I know why I feel so bad it will be weeks, not months to see an improvement. I asked a Dr friend of mine a dermatologist, so not her area, she too was baffled by weaning. I am sorry you had such a bad experience too.
I think I will ask for an explanation @Pyjamaramma luckily I have kept all the clinic letters.
