Red wine and migraines

I can't drink red wine because it gives me migraines, however the other day DP slow cooked a casserole made with red wine. Later that evening I got the early signs of a migraine. A couple of Migraleve later and I was fine by the morning. But it surprised me. I didn't think it would have the same effect if it had been cooked. Or does that only apply to the alcohol?
