Please no mean comments, wheeze and breathless

Please no nasty or comments about my anxiety as I am aware my anxiety is bad, this isn't actually my anxiety as doc took one listen said early stages of pneumonia, anti biotics immediately.
I went to an appointment unrelated to my pneumonia today it was a cancellation for a condition I have and didn't want to miss it as next year was the next available appointment in the summer. I went and they could hear my wheeze and shortness of breath when speaking so they decided to put a monitor on me which said my oxygen was normal (not sure how as I cannot breath) my heart rate was 120-140 and my temp was 37.7 - they wanted to call an ambulance due to the strong wheeze I have and that I may need an x ray (my x ray was clear before I was diagnosed with pneumonia weirdly enough) - my heart rate eventually went down to 101 and was stuck there from when I decided to leave, they said an ambulance was coming but was a 4 hour wait and I didn't want to waste any doctors time as I know I am riddled with anxiety these days. I'm back home using my oximeter and my levels say they are 91-94 so wondering if mine is a bit faulty, I'm so worried as I'm so wheezy still and I'm on day 3 of anti biotics, doc said day 3 should be a turning point. I'm super breathless but yet when I was at my appointment my oxygen was normal so I don't understand, they said they aren't worried about my breathing as oxygen is normal, they are worried about the wheeze and the fact I am not better yet along with heart rate staying above 100 even at rest (my oximeter does show this aswell) it's 90-100, I know no one is a medical professional here so please no mean comments but has anyone experienced this? Im so so worried and the wheeze is so loud and sounds like foil crackling it's so horrible and anxiety inducing🥲

You might need steroids. Your lungs can get damaged if you don’t treat an infection properly. If your breathlessness gets so bad you can’t say a sentence without stopping for breath between words go to Accident and emergency ASAP

That's the thing, they say there's nothing wrong with my breathing as my oxygen is 100 everytime, I think mine is faulty because when I was at my appointment and then chose to go a&e both times 100.
It's so hard to know what's anxiety and what's not, I don't feel short of breath right now but do feel very hot and weak - albeit temp normal so I honestly don't know

Go see your mum. If you're still worried you can see a gp while your there. I'm no doctor but usually when I've had chest infections and pneumonia the only thing that help fixes it is steroids and inhaler along side the antibiotics

So if I don't ask for steroids I won't get better? 😭

Yeah it’s strange, I was in hospital with an asthma attack and although my oxygen was at 96% I was gasping for breath badly

emilylouisex1 · 06/12/2023 07:43

@FatFatMary well I have a doctors appointment before I leave today (to check a skin condition I have as a follow up) so I may ask her to listen to my chest and ask her if it is normal to feel so rough

I know it sounds cliché but have you tired blowing out every last bit of breath In lungs and then trying to take a big breath in. Anxiety can make us not breathe everything out even though we think we are.
You can get better without steroids just usually it's the go to thing with my gp. Ask about steroids see what they say

CharlotteRose90 · 06/12/2023 07:58

If it’s definitely confirmed pneumonia you need steroids. Try and rest and drink as much fluids as you can. Pneumonia is bloody awful to recover from.

Well his own words at the out of hours GP was 'you definitely need anti biotics this is turning into early stages of pneumonia' so I think so...at the moment I can breath fine, it's just how rough I feel, I feel awful

Pneumonia is a serious illness that takes a while to recover from. You said you can do more today but you shouldn't be doing anything except resting. Give your body a chance as it's fighting a serious dose. I used to do substitute teaching and was called in the first week of October to replace a teacher with Pneumonia and she came back after Christmas!! Rest, rest and more rest. You are not going to recover that quickly. Only go to your mom if it means she can cook for you and generally take care of your needs so you are in bed resting. Try to accept it will take time as that will help your anxiety. Mind yourself.

Yes mum said she will look after me, she knows I'm sick, I'm here alone though so I have no one where I live.

I think I'm genuinely the most unluckiest person ever!!!! Went to visit my mum, here now and my suitcase was stolen on the train, that had my anti biotics in, my make up, my work laptop and system equipment!!! Reported to police. Going to miss a dose now but did call 111 and they've sent it through to the pharmacy but pharmacy is closed until tomorrow. I've done so much crying that I'm wheezy and coughing again and worried I'm gonna get worse or the anti biotics won't work

Oh no you poor thing. That’s awful. Just get down the pharmacy at the crack of dawn when it opens and take your dose right away.

You’re having such bad luck just now. That sucks. 🙁

Honestly! I've tried contacting them this morning and nothing yet. I am hoping someone brings it back 😫 on my way to pick up the anti biotics now

Wondering now if I never had pneumonia to begin with. The chest rattling is exactly the same as it was when I first started and I still feel so bunged up, I haven't got worse but I definitely haven't really got much better. 2 days of course left.
