How long will flu last?

My first time having flu, I truly never understood how awful it could be but I'm on day 5 and still have a temp of 39, fluctuating between being freezing cold and shivering and then roasting hot, drenched in sweat. Everything is so much effort, I'll feel like I'm breathing through cotton wool.

I also have managed to end up with laryngitis too so have very little voice, irritating cough which there is 0 relief from despite syrup/lozenges/sprays.

I am knackered 😔

Flu is horrible but I think around day 5 is when things start to improve. Unless it is Covid rather than flu.
Flu does flatten you for a week or two though the temp shifts after day 5.

In the past I've had it last for around 7-10 days then a slow recovery. For me it always goes to my chest so I get a cough that will go on and on. To be competely recovered takes me about a month, but that's just me!
