Pneumonia please help advice

I've just got back from the hospital, I have the early stages of pneumonia and really struggling to breath, my whole body hurts and I feel so so weak. I have bad health anxiety as it is, doctor was happy to send me home but said to look out for danger symptoms such as not being able to breath at all and panting and if that happened I would need to come to a&e immediately. My health anxiety is at its peak as I feel I can't even move I feel so so so unwell. Doctors were shocked aswell as my x ray a few days ago was clear but I took a weird turn Friday were I got 'flu like symptoms' which resulted to bad breathlessness today which is why I did go see a doctor and they said I have the early stages of pneumonia and my right lung sounds very very congested with fluid. I just want reassurance that the way I am feeling is normal for this, I'm so scared of something bad happening because of my anxiety.

sugarandsweetener · 03/12/2023 16:08

why did you have an x-ray a few days ago?

sugarandsweetener · 03/12/2023 16:10

14 threads you have started about your health in a very short period of time

OP - it is your anxiety you need to address

It is is destroying your life

SparklingSparkle · 03/12/2023 16:13

Go to bed, keep warm and take the antibiotics. My DH had pneumonia and it started to improve very quickly with antibiotics.

SwedeCaroline · 03/12/2023 16:14

just rest! I suspect I may be starting pneumonia, but I am not particularly worried, I have had it before, twice, and have been immunised, so it won't get too bad - I just have a plan of where I'll go and what I'll do if x happens, or if I am not improving by y...

Incidentally, pneumonia jabs are available from boots for £70 ish pounds and last a life time, if anyone is worried - well worth it

Oh absolutely I know I have anxiety, but my fear was this would develop into pneumonia and it has...just got back from the hospital so it's terrifying me. Once this gets better I am going to get on medication for my anxiety as you are right it is ruling my life. But I feel terrible so I'm worried.

I feel silly because this year I didn't get the flu jab, I'm asthmatic so do every year but I was so busy it just slipped my mind and this happened. My fault but will be resting

I've had a wheeze and cough for a month, they kept telling me no infection - x ray was to confirm if I had an infection which they said I don't but I got worse Friday, went to see an out of hours gp today and they confirmed early stages of pneumonia, my right lung is congested with fluid and left lung is slightly crackly so it's progressing, doc said he's so shocked the x ray was clear

You will be ok OP.

Take your medication and rest. Lying on your front makes it easier to breathe and gets more air into your lungs so do that too.

Thank you, I am resting currently, never felt so rough!

Anyone got this now? I’ve just been diagnosed at hospital today and giving dyceloin I think it’s called? Does anyone know when I will start to feel even a little bit better. This fever and confusion I’m getting through the night is destroying me!!

It’s terrible isn’t it. I got diagnosed today. Utterly awful. Ten times worse than covid imo . I’ve not eaten for four days and the fever has been constant.

I really feel for you, it’s the most horrific thing ever, hope you feel better soon, what was your symptoms? Xx

BananaSplitsss · 29/02/2024 21:14

I’ve had lots of symptoms:
I have not eaten for four days
constant extreme coughing to the point of being sick
constant high fever and then chills. Shaking chills.
Sheer exhaustion
Back / chest pain
Breathless when moving / talking
muscle aches beyond belief.
worst of all is the nights. The delirious feeling and the fever and sweats. And the body aches and the coughing all night.

How are you feeling? Hope you’re feeling better. did you have similar symptoms?

All the same symptoms apart from my chest was not bad until after I went to the hospital. It took me 4 antibiotics to shift it and just had my 6 week x ray and it has cleared, still do not feel 100% though. Rest rest rest is what I advise because it takes a long time to get over this. I nearly passed out when I found out I had it, what antibiotics are you on? Cx

Jayd291 · 29/02/2024 21:26

The night sweats are the worst !!

Lou670 · 29/02/2024 22:28

If it was that bad they would have kept you in and administered antibiotics by iv drip. Have they given you any antibiotics to take orally to clear it up? Have you got an oximeter to monitor oxygen saturation? If you are asthmatic then keep an eye on your oxygen levels.
