Food poisoning ?

So my 9 month old went to his nans today and was accidentally given out of date eggs by two weeks . They were stores in the fridge and cooked in the microwave to make scrambled eggs. We read online that if you put the eggs in water and they sink then they are still okay. We did this with the other eggs and they sunk. Hes been fine throughout the day.

he has thrown up tonight . However this isn’t uncommon as he sometimes coughs and then sicks up his bottle at night.

should I be worried . How long would it take to effect him .

thankyou

Eggs are best before and stored in the fridge expect this is a red herring and not food poisoning. Especially as you tested the other eggs.

Had the exact same situation with my DH last week (admittedly a grown man so probably slightly different). Had sickness and diarrhoea throughout one night and was fine again (if tired) by the morning. Obviously got whatever it was out of his system. It could have been the eggs or may have been something else. Monitor and make sure he has as much fluid, in whatever form, as he can manage - even if he throws some up. Food is less important. I would say if he goes 3 days without food and umable to keep much fluid down the speak to your GP or 111. Obviously if high temperature, unresponsive, floppy etc then call 999 or 111.

The eggs will be fine. There are hundreds of viruses around this time of year, your LO will be ill because he's caught one of them. I hope he doesn't get too bad.

This is embarrassing, but my DD and her friend once made and ate fried egg sandwiches from eggs two MONTHS out of date. I had no idea they were still at the back of the fridge in the garage and was mortified. They were both absolutely fine. I very much doubt it was the eggs.

Thankyou everyone, he’s been sick three times tonight . Hoping it’s all out of his system now x
