Anaemia or side effect from iron tablets

I've been feeling really unwell for a while. Saw GP to talk about HRT (am 49). Full blood tests showed I'm deficient in ferritin, folate and Vit D. I was 1 point above anaemic on the range for the test.

As a result GP prescribed iron (200 mg x 1 a day of ferrous sulphate) plus folic acid and vit d. I started taking the meds last Saturday, have read up on the iron and how to take it. On Tuesday, my period started. Heavy bleeding has been the issue, same this time. But I've also had what I initially thought was a back ache linked to period pains but its become so painful. It started the day before my period and its still going, pain right at the bottom of my back that radiates all the way down both my legs. I'm taking painkillers but when they wear off I can't stop it hurting, it wakes me at night and on Thursday I couldn't sit down at my desk at work as it hurt so much.

I can't work out whether the pain is caused by the low iron, made worse by my period or if its the iron tablets. For context, have been keeping a track on blood loss and I reckon its at least 200mls this period and still going. Its Saturday so no GP access and I wondered if anyone had experienced similar?
