I've got a weird pain in my foot, it's been getting progressively worse, can anyone tell me what it might be?

It is right in the middle of the ball of my right foot, really painful when pressure is applied and when I bend my foot it goes into my toes.

It started a few weeks ago as a niggle but now it is constant, when I stand or walk.

I can't see anything stuck in there it's a deep pain, internal.

Will try and get to GP next week but in meantime wondered if anyone has had similar.

Could it be a heel spur?

I have this and the pain can spead over the whole foot, radiating out from the middle of the foot.

I developed this when I put on weight/got pregnant/worked in sales and was standing all day.

Could your shoes be pressing on a nerve?

scattyspice · 13/03/2008 12:54

It might be inflammation of the joint at the base of the big toe (this is quite common). Take ibuprofen, gently massage and stretch it and wear comfy shoes with some padded soles (ie trainers, def no heels). Go to GP nxt week if no better.

Good Luck.

Thanks for that link Kinder - it actually sounds more like this.

Not sure about shoes, am tall so don't wear heels.

I've also got the beginnings of a bunion (mm attractive) so maybe it's connected to that?

Oh, those sleeve things look sexy.

Perhaps a padded insole would help?

I hate to say it but the best thing for me is Crocs.

MehgaLegs · 13/03/2008 13:04

I am wearing 'my feeding the chickens' crocs as I type .

Is a podiatist (sp) the same as a chiropodist? I have a friend who is the former but don't know if I am brave enough to show her my manky feet.
