Thyroid test after 10am too late

My mother has just had a full set of in depth thyroid blood tests taken at 10:10am. I thought these were supposed to be done first thing. How much difference will this make to the results?

Did she eat before the tests? Take her medication? If not, then it won't make much difference, even though TSH does rise during the day. Depends if she is trying to get a diagnosis - in which case you want the TSH to be as high as possible!

She ate yes. And yes we are hoping to move from subclinical to actually getting some help with it. So you think actually it might go in our favour?

No the opposite, unfortunately. What were her last thyroid lab results?

Ok, thank you for clarifying. They’re medicheck tests and I called them and they’ve happily sent out another test so she can take them earlier in the day. All credit to them they haven’t charged us extra for the replacement.

That's really good of them @Rooandtwo - I often use Medichecks myself.

I know, I was impressed. Mum has been feeling all kinds of awful and the gp results have essentially come back subclinical but I know from my own b12 experience this doesn’t tell the full story. Fingers crossed something helpful emerges!
