Histology lost sample

I've recently had a mole removed because it changed a lot over the last year.

For unconnected reasons I saw 3 different doctors along the way and all said they were quite confident it was benign but agreed it was better safe than sorry.

So mole was removed and sent off to histology..... and they have lost it so can't tell me if it was benign or malignant.

Hospital says they have launched investigation and complained to lab but basically it's gone so I just have to monitor the wound site in case anything grows back.

Is there anything else I can do, am I being fobbed off? I'm worried sick.

That is absolutely shocking.

Can they do a scan or any further tests to reassure you?

They are saying there is nothing else to check, the whole mole was removed so nothing left to check.

It seems so ridiculous but if it was malignant then I've got no outward sign of anything amiss just a big scar.
