Any dentists about please? I’ve broken a tooth

I have a big root filled back upper tooth that’s been filled for about 25 years (done twice over that time).

It must have been fragile as today as a corner of the front part has sheared off exposing the filling. It doesn’t hurt but feels a bit odd and is very sharp.

Im more concerned about how horrible it looks when my mouth is opened. Can this be fixed? Can it be crowned or a white filling applied to make it look ok when my mouth is open?

I have an emergency dental appointment on Thursday but would like reassurance it can be fixed if possible it’s really upset me.

Exactly fhr same has happened to me today, I’ve managed to get a short emergency appointment on Wednesday but I’m worried the dentist might just want to extract my tooth because he’s too busy and will be off loads at Christmas. What was the outcome for you @Xmaswrap ? Really hoping it can be salvaged

Hello, he did an amazing job of building up the tooth with a white composite stuff so it looks better now than it did before. There was no talk of removing the tooth at all x

@Xmaswrap glad to report that all is well. I’ve had a temporary filling today and will have impressions taken for a crown on Friday which will be fitted in a couple of weeks. Writing this for if anyone else is scared they’ll have a tooth gap which is visible at the side of their mouth.
