Electric shock feeling

Ever since I had my middle child nearly 6 years ago I’ve had a wierd sensation in my right thigh. I had pethidine in labour with him if that helps. It feels like an electric shock shooting feeling all down my thigh it’s when I twist too soon or move in a certain position. It seems to be getting worse as now most of the time it tingles and aches. I haven’t been to the gp about it cos I know how run down they are at the moment and I don’t want to waste their time. Has anyone else had this or know what it could be?

Nerve.
Becoming impinged in some way.

See a physio.

I don't have much help but I have had this all my life. I used to call it my shooting guns. I try to avoid touching the inside of my knees because it sends those pains through my hips. It was worse in childhood but still sometimes happens. I'd be interested to know the cause.

I did think nerve pain but literally just right now sitting here it’s aching I have to rub it or like gently smack it, it’s such a bizarre feeling. When I get the shock i can’t explain it it hurts but it doesn’t, it just feels strange

Do you have any back pain? Sciatica can sometimes affect the front of the thigh

Safxxx · 27/11/2023 23:04

Try Accupuncture

Theaviator · 28/11/2023 03:53

@Imnotaslimjim yes but that’s unreleated. I had a major back injury as a teen so I suffer with bad back anyway! It’s been bloody throbbing all night

I've also had this. In my case it was impingement of the femoral nerve due to a bulging disc.

Bit like sciatica, which I also had, but a different nerve.

It's been a while now but I think I recall that it was the lower of my two affected discs that caused weird burning and buzzing sensations in the front of my thigh (L3/4) and the next one up (L4/5) caused the more common sciatic pain down the back of my leg.

Theaviator · 28/11/2023 07:06

@CobraChicken how did it get rectified?

Physiotherapy and the exercises I was told to do regularly by the physiotherapist. Avoiding heavy lifting. Trying to maintain good posture while sitting at my desk (sedentary job) and taking breaks where I get up and walk around regularly. I think that's all? I still get short lived bouts of it, but they're much less severe.
