Its not scary nothing really happens

It's just loud

Mrsjayy · 25/11/2023 22:37

I had 1 during covid apart from my mask I didn't mind it I had heard horror stories about it being claustrophobic and scary but it was fine.

MaloneMeadow · 25/11/2023 22:47

I was terrified for my first MRI, got quite claustrophobic and panicky in the beginning..

Now multiple down the line and I actually look forward to them😆 I find them really relaxing. Love just being able to lie down for half an hour, close my eyes and listen to music

worldwidetravel2017 · 25/11/2023 22:51

I took a fabric eye mask
It helped my brain

I have them regularly, find them quite relaxing. Sometimes fall asleep.

just having a rest and chilling 😄

my radiographer are the radiographers? anyway they were quite chatty so the 30 minutes flew by.

CuntRYMusicStar · 25/11/2023 22:57

Every time I have had an mri (about 9 in all) I've fallen asleep. I think it's like white noise! The only problem is when my Brian remembers it should be awake and I've jerked awake 😆

Headband · 25/11/2023 23:02

@Mrsjayy yes they're radiographers. If ever we needed to do a test run, I always volunteered, I love a lay down and no one can disturb you!

Caswallonthefox · 25/11/2023 23:07

When I had my mri, I closed my eyes and took deep breaths. It was very noisy and not something I would do again, unless I absolutely had to.

mauveiscurious · 25/11/2023 23:17

I had one in Covid too no issues

worldwidetravel2017 · 25/11/2023 23:38

I had contrast with mine

Drank lots and lots after to get the contrast out my system

I've had 2. Never again.

SophieJo · 26/11/2023 09:41

When I had mine I was offered a hospital gown. If I had another I would stay fully clothed as I was very cold and my feet were freezing.

The best thing is to dress in clothes with no metal, no zips, wear a sports bra etc and make sure your underwear doesn't have any sparkles or diamanté on it.

I was grateful after a long wait in A&E overnight sat upright for a bed and then getting up to a ward just before the 6am first wake up I couldn’t then sleep and so the emergency mri was a breeze to the point I nearly nodded off more then once.
I was mega tired as the night before arriving at A&E I didn’t sleep, rationed with I must find out what’s wrong.

If I ever had to go through it again I’d make sure I was tired.

I think I feared a catheter going in more.

DottyMacaroon · 26/11/2023 21:17

I’ve had 4. The last one I opened my eyes, and realised it wasn’t that bad. Well lit and not as close to my face as I was expecting.

have had 2 without headphones and 2 with. Definitely prefer the ones I can listen to music, but thankfully mine have only been about 15-20 minutes. I was quite relaxed with the last one in the end, could have slept b

worldwidetravel2017 · 26/11/2023 21:51
