Pain in calf

Noticed a weird pain in my lower calf yesterday, it hurt a bit to walk, like the painful area felt tight, almost like a pulled muscle. Tender to touch.

No swelling.

Today it's a bit better and I've done a 20k run. Still aware of it when I'm walking. Area is now slightly red, very tender to touch like a bruise.

I haven't hurt it or been injured, what could it be? No other symptoms. Very fit and healthy otherwise.

A DVT. Is it hot as well? You need to ring 111.

It's cool to the touch, same as the rest of my leg. Seems really excessive to phone 111!

I'm fit, active, wouldn't have thought likely it's a DVT?

It could be bursitis especially if you are active. But not still could be a DVT. I would call 111 anyway or do it online if you don't want to speak to someone. Best to be safe than sorry. X

DVT can be caused by many things like medication and a flight. Being fit doesn’t mean you’re immune, and you have two of the symptoms. It’s unlikely, but as a DVT can be life threatening, it’s worth a thought. And you did ask what it could be.

Thanks everyone, I did the online 111 questionnaire and it said to 'contact GP within the next few days' based on my answers.

It seems less painful this morning and less red, just slightly pinkish, to the side of my lower calf.

It doesn't throb and it's not hot or swollen at all...I haven't been on a flight and don't meet any other of the risk factors so I'm hoping it's just a weird pulled muscle/bruise...

I've got a surgery on Tuesday that I've waited 11 months for so I really hope it's nothing!
