Found a lump

NC as its pretty personal.

A few weeks ago I found a very hard, irregular shaped lump in my abdomen in a line with my pelvis so made a GP appointment. It's is approx 4" in length. I cannot feel or see it whilst standing. Only when I am lay flat having been lay on my side IYSWIM.

She examined me as soon as I walked in and couldn't find it. Like I said, I can only feel it myself, after I've been lay down a while. It obviously shifts when I stand.

She said she was going to refer for an internal ultrasound. This was nearly two weeks ago. I'm guessing she thinks I'm being dramatic (maybe feeling a stool) as she couldn't find it so hasn't made an urgent referral?

I'm getting a bit worried as it's not going anywhere, been there at least a month and I am carer to my very disabled child. Do I just need to be patient? TIA

Sorry to hear this @Cressaid. In your position I'd ring the GP tomorrow (or pop in, even, if it's easy to get to). Explain that you've heard nothing and ask them to check the date of the GP's referral. Best of luck to you Flowers

Thank you for your reply. I didn't want to be a pain and pester them but had no idea how long was reasonable to not hear anything! Thanks again for taking the time to reply.

Hi OP. Was this down the left side of your abdomen?

Poppercorn · 23/11/2023 23:32

I had this and it came up more when I woke in the morning and needed the loo. It was/is a harmless fibroid, seen on ultrasound.

A wait of up to 6 weeks is an urgent referral. Then 3 weeks until the results come through.
You have my sympathies: it is such a worry. Keeping my fingers crossed that all is well.
