Anybody else wiped out by flu? Having all the symptoms possible and not seem to be getting better. Been a week now. It's not Covid as tested a few times.

Anybody through the other side and can give some hope?

What are your symptoms? I am having very odd aches in specific places and sweating and feel exhausted.

Flu report:

Weekly Flu and COVID-19 Report_w47 (publishing.service.gov.uk)

Not much flu about. There has been a covid wave, which is now showing signs of ebbing, but is still considerably commoner than flu

Of flu, the commonest strains a A (H1N1, H3N2 and unclassified A type) and some B.

I'm not sure how long those flus are typically lasting. Rest as much as you can, and I hope you get rid of it soon

Several people I know have tested -ve for Covid for at least 7 days before testing +ve.

I know two people who have recently had the flu, both totally wiped out with it for days and failed the £50 test, and both repeatedly tested negative for Covid.

Symptoms so far are severe exhaustion, weakness, dry hacking cough (+ rib pain), conjunctivitis, unsettled tummy, and early on it was joint pain, sinus headaches, ringing ears, blocked hearing, nausea. I've had Covid before and I think this is worse.

Yes, I had the first symptoms on the 15th Nov and am only just feeling better and back to work properly today (27th!), I feel for you because it’s been awful. I was just lying in bed for the first 4 days, couldn’t read, couldn’t listen to the radio or watch telly, had a banging migraine, the worst chills (could not get warm), pain everywhere (joints, shooting back pains), and this hacking cough, I put my back out at one point from all the coughing! It’s been worse than any of my covids. Still got the flipping cough. Keep resting, lots of fresh food, vitamins, pain relief, fluids and more rest. It is a horrid strain, my eldest son has also been off for a week with it. He’s shattered (age 8). Get well soon and go easy on yourself.

I think we had flu last week. I know there's not much of it about as a PP said, but DH, DD2 and I were all really ill, and DD1 was absolutely fine. She's the only one who had the flu vaccine (DD2 is too young).
DD2 got ill last weekend, came on really suddenly - totally fine then a high fever and lay on my chest all day. She's only really been back to normal today. DH and I had similar on Tuesday, felt fine then suddenly feverish, chills, shaky, weak, headache, cough etc and could barely drag ourselves out of bed. I've still not got my appetite back and have an awful cough. DD1 fit as a fiddle the whole time.

Yes, we've had the symptoms pps mention for a couple of weeks, although much stronger in week 2. If someone had tried the old trick to identify the flu of putting a £50 note on the end of the bed and being too ill to reach it, I'd have passed. The cough has been frightening. So hard to breathe and agonising back/pulled muscle pain in my diaphragm.

I have taken a covid test every couple of days because I just couldn't believe it wasn't, but have tested negative every time. It is finally going now I think, but has left all of us wiped out. Horrible virus, whatever it is.

I always say ‘if someone left a million pounds on my doorstep and I could not get up to go and get it, then it’s flu’ and yep, for 3 solid days I was just in bed and would have let the neighbours have the money! Thank god the husband did everything. Obviously there’s loads of laundry backed up and the house is a state now but he kept the kids alive and looked after me. Very grateful I could just rest. Hope it moves on soon for anyone going through it.
