I've developed a sudden productive cough and I know it's gross but I'm coughing.upnloads of green/,,yellow stuff and it tastes gross. My chest feels a little sore and tight. My throat feels dry and scratchy too. I'm panicking that it's pneumonia or something bad. I'm scared to go on sleep. I'm panicking. Do people think probably not that serious and I'll be okay to just see how it is in the morning.i have super bad health anxiety so this is sending me into a spiral.

Ok, calm down, breathe

Take two paracetamol and a big drink of water

You have a chest infection, it's November and lots of people are getting them. Your body has a very clever immune system - it's spotted a virus or bacteria in your lungs, so is producing all that gunk to cough it out, whilst it busies its white blood cells to kill it off. Keep your fluids up to help it.

You will be fine.

And when it's gone, your immune system will have one more defence against future infections

If you had pneumonia, you'd have chest pain, be unable to breathe properly, you'd have a high temperature, rapid heart beat, be sweating and so on.

It's fine, it will be better in a few days. Don't worry
