DH broke 4 vertebrae?s just over 2 years ago (L2,3,4 and T12)

For medical reasons they couldn?t operate to it was managed conventionally. He has chronic back pain and went back to back clinic where they took X-rays and the consultant casually mentioned, ah yes I see the problems are T9 (1st we ever heard about it being fracturerd)T12 and the lumbar ones. He was on his own and it didnt really hit home till he told me!
What the hell....

How can they have missed this or has this occurred at a later stage and how.

Any similar experiences or ideas? Very confused and wish I'd gone with him as would have 'interogated' the consultant iyswim

not as serious but it turned out I had fractured my hand 6 weeks after the accident (at first they thought it was just crushed)

It didn't matter though as it wouldn't have changed how they treated it.

Talk to consultant - I presume it doesnt actually 'matter' from a medical point of view that he broke it?

thanks thehonenid, Not it wouldn't have made a difference as to how they treated it but what worries me that is maybe has anything to do with compression of the spine and as it was not his usual consultant he has not read the whole file (assumption on my side)

Dh was a bit overwhelmed and didnt ask any further but he will be going for an MRI soon as X-rays were inconclusive so I will make sure I can go with him as like to know why this has never come up earlier and there is a stack of xrays as thick as the yellow pages.
