www.meningitis-trust.org/

They have recently produced new UPDATED symptom cards

they fit in your wallet so you can have one with you all the time

My DD nearly died from it, it is a horrible illness that we all need to know about

Do take a look at the site, it has loads of Info on it. They are a charity and don't get any funding from the government

Maybe you could look at holding a coffee morning at your house with your friends (Coffee Break 1 - 31 March 2008 UK only)

They have been a great support for me and are providing counselling free of charge

Feel free to take a look at my web site about my DD (it does need updating but having trouble doing it)

Thanks

Bump.

And thanks for posting it, Annie. Took my dd2 to A&E based on symptoms I'd read about here, and they took it v seriously (treated her for 3 days with IV antibiotics whilst blood cultures were done). Thankfully turned out not to be septicaemia, or meningitis, but if it had - at least I knew what to look for.

Love your website

Thankyou AB, so to hear about your little dd, I can't access the link.
My DH was critically ill with meningitis last year, one of the hardest times of my life, what with a newborn and toddler as well. My cousins DS died of meningitis at just 6 months .

An interesting fact I never knew is that the classic pinprick rash associated with meningitis does'nt always appear or does towards the end when the body is in recovery, my DH just looked sunburnt.

So glad your DD was ok Elibean

How is your DH now MyMummiesAScummyMummy ?

Thanks scottishmummy

doesnt cost anything to be sent a few symptom cards, then you can give them to your friends and family

they can also send you leaflets and have a 24hour Nurse led helpline, you can ring for advice or if you were concerned about your child etc
