Hmm...what could this be?

DD (14months) has come home from nursery, into bath, and we've noticed small pink spots on back, arms & legs. Pale pink, not raised, evenly distributed.
She had Hib and MenC booster a week ago. Has been a bit grotty the last few days with what we thought was teething pain - sporadic temp of no more than 38oC, easily controlled with calpol , rapping knuckles against jaw a bit, chewing fingers.
Temp this morning 37.5oC, gave her some ibuprofen and she's been fine all day at nursery, ate well, etc. Her temp right now is normal and she seems fine.

So - what could this be? I'm sure it's not excema - could it be the start of chicken pox blisters?

Rest assured will be monitoring situation and referring to GP if she seems unwell at all, but at moment bit of a mystery. Any input gratefully received x

a reaction to the jabs maybe?

WigWamBam · 11/03/2008 18:49

Very likely to be a reaction to the jab, I would have thought.

I think you're right to monitor and call the GP if she seems unwell.

Forgot to mention - she also has a bit of a cold & cough/runny nose..........she just reminded me on monster monitor.
thanx for speedy replies x

Sounds like hand, foot and mouth. Check in her mouth for ulcers. If she is off her food and out of sorts - putting hands in mouth constantly then it probably is. very contagious in nursery - to other wee ones. Just goes away by itself but give disprol/calpol type thing for pain and fever. My DD had it in Oct no rash on hands or feet but on legs and arms and torso.

RUMPEL · 11/03/2008 19:06

Yep my DD had runny nose etc too - sounds like it is to me. You'll need to inform nursery.

mylovelymonster · 11/03/2008 19:10

Ah! Will look it up. I know the nursery has had cases before - in a different room.
Thanx.

I forgot to mention the rash never came out until about 2 days after the crying, temp and hand shoving in mouth.

mylovelymonster · 11/03/2008 19:26

Sounds very similar. Will look in mouth if she lets me! thanx rumpel. I belive GP consultation on the cards tomorrow, but I won't worry unduly.
(before anyone asks, yes pfb )
