dd has not been right for about a month. she is a bit pale and drawn, constantly snotty. for the last few months occasionally she will wake complaining about a pain in her leg and has had a few nosebleeds since starting school.

two weeks ago she was on antibiotics for an ear infection.

she is also covered in bruises but she is five and very active and they are concentrated on her arms and mostly legs.

yesterday she woke up with a temp, she seemed better during the day. i took her to the drs today and he said her glands are swollen but thinks its a virus and told me fluids and calpol.

she wanted to go back to school and she seemed perkier so i sent her in.

however tonight she looks terrible, dark and heavy eyed and she is now asleep.

her appetite is good though.

do i start putting one and one together and making scary numbers or do you think it is winter bugs.

i am not sure whether to start asking for some tests but am i just being silly

Coulds she be anaemic?

I'd be at scarey numbers already! A month is way too long and she just seems to be moving from one bug to the next. Bring her to the GP and tell him you want her checked head to toe!

hmm i dont know, clearly shes not 'right' and its been going on a while. i had a similar thing with ds2 once when he was ooh about 3 and he wasm uch as you describe without the weird bruises tho. sleeping all the time- literally in his dinner, 20 hours a day, it went on for a month. i went to dr when eventuaalyy his hair started falling out . my dr did tersts and her being a bit of a scaremongerer started mentioning leaukemia (sp??). all the tests came back fine tho his l;iver function was apparently a bit off but nothing to worry about. so it was put down to that old gp's fave, 'a virus'. and it went on its own. horrible when i look back at thet time , but he is fine now.
for you i know you must be v worried. i would take her to the gp and outline all you have said here. at least you will have an answer. best of luck
