Diabetes

I've recently been told I need to be tested for diabetes, partly due to a nasty skin infection that's suddenly taken hold.
I'm lethargic, hair falling, large family history of it. I'm actual barely keeping my eyes open tbh.
I will pursue this week, I was just wondering; my mum uses a testing kit. If I had a go on it would it give me an indication of whether the doctor might be correct?

Oh I'm definitely going to get it done properly, I'm just shamefully clueless about all of this and was curious about where numbers should be and where they are.
After the doctor saying this it feels like a lot of things suddenly make sense so I'm trying to get it in order in my head.
Obviously I'm not thrilled lol but if it is this I like to be completely on the ball about it.
My legs are a bit of a state, hoping the antibiotics work

If anyone else sees this, I'm just wondering if the sores/ ulcers were a warming sign for anyone else?

Yeah fingerprick would give you an indication, so long as you understand how to interpret the results. Fingerpricks can’t be used for diagnosis though.

To full interpret a finger prick test, you'd need to be able to analyse the numbers before and after eating etc. however if you do do it, and your test shows a high number then you can assume there is something going on.

This was my thinking, I'd just like half a clue if I'm going on the correct path. The ulcer situation is scaring me to be honest.
Although, today for the first time in two weeks they haven't got any better but they haven't worsened so maybe antibiotics are helping.
