Good morning!

Yes, my windows are Yorkshire sash (slide sideways), so either open about 8" or about an inch if it's windy or it makes my curtain rings rattle and wake me up.
I wake up really stuffy and headachey if I close them.

Mummyme87 · 12/11/2023 07:32

Yes. We have pvc double glazed sash windows and our bedroom is always open up to an inch at night

Anselma · 12/11/2023 07:33

Yes. Why are you asking OP?

SeethroughDress · 12/11/2023 07:33

Always. When I lived in the Swiss Alps, and it was minus 17 in winter, I still did. I like a cold bedroom with plenty of bedclothes.

devildeepbluesea · 12/11/2023 07:34

Yes, I need fresh air and always a stick my feet out - can’t stand hot feet!

GreenMarigold · 12/11/2023 07:35

If I could then I would but my husband feels the cold more than me so we tend not to if it’s below about 10 degrees.

This is my problem, I wake up every morning in the winter with cold like symptoms, stuffy nose, dry throat, sneezing, etc. I've done some research, and it could possibly be dry air, which occurs when the weather becomes cold. My bedroom is very cold as it is, but I'm wondering if opening a window could push out some of the dry air and bring in fresh air (that sounds pretty strange, I know) or I could purchase a humidifier but I'm worried about too much moisture and dampness etc

Try a cheap or diy humidifier? We have some ceramic containers that hang on the radiator filled with water. You could just pop a bowl of water on your radiator for a few days to see if that helps

idontlikealdi · 12/11/2023 07:40

Yes all year. Do you have your heating on overnight op?

Me too. I get so annoyed about this window issue and open it as often as I can

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 12/11/2023 07:42

Yes - we always sleep with a window open. Hate hotel rooms where the windows don't open, I always get a stuffed up nose.

TheSilverThorn · 12/11/2023 07:42

All year unless it gets below freezing.

DustyLee123 · 12/11/2023 07:43

No, the pissing owls wake me up if I leave the window open. Noisy buggers!

So of the two possible solutions one is free and involves approximately 10 seconds work, maybe more if you find a flanker and one involves researching and buying something.
Call me crazy but why don’t you try the open window option.
Confused

Is there a reason you can't open the window and see what happens?

MysticalMegx · 12/11/2023 07:48

Yep always, love waking up to the fresh air and hearing the birds outside

That used to happen when we lived in Leicestershire on the edge of a small wood — they were deafening!

justalittlesnoel · 12/11/2023 08:01

All year no matter the weather! Not great when it's nature that wakes us up (the foxes screaming always gets me) but it's just nice and fresh.

Dontcallmescarface · 12/11/2023 08:12

Yes. The small top window is open 24/7 and only shut if we are going away.

NeverTrustAPoliceman · 12/11/2023 08:27

Yes always. Wide open in summer, maybe just an inch or so on frosty nights. It is far healthier to sleep with fresh air in the room.

Owls, red kites and the local cuckoo can be noisy though.

BitofaStramash · 12/11/2023 08:34

Always.

I like a warm house but a cold bedroom. I can't sleep in a warm Ty

Warm room

CountTo10 · 12/11/2023 08:42

Yes but mainly because the cat goes in and out of it and gets cross if it's not open!

Having said that I like a cold bedroom and I certainly never feel uncomfortable when I 've left the window open all night.

Crumpetdisappointment · 12/11/2023 08:46

oh definitely,
cannot sleep otherwise

Stroopwaffels · 12/11/2023 08:47

Yes we sleep in a loft room which is very heavily insulated and the velux windows are open half an inch at least all year round. Far too hot and stuffy otherwise.
