Breast lump - worrying for nothing?

Hey there I had a breast examination and ultrasound after finding a lump about 4mm in size it’s moveable too . The ultra sound doctor scanned me and said that it’s definitely a cyst as it’s just under skin layer. I came out so over the moon and happy literally on cloud nine however my friend has worried me now.

she said why didn’t they take a biopsy or drain it if it was a cyst as that’s what she had done and that’s got me worried. I just listened to the doctor and took what she said as correct. Should I have asked for a biopsy ? slightly worried now but part of me is happy with what the doctor said I’m not sure . Has anyone ever had an ultrasound they found a cyst and they didn’t biopsy ?
thanks lovelies !

I’m at my local hospital checking cysts about every six months at the moment 🫣. They keep sprouting up! I have never needed a biopsy but have been offered to have them drained just for my own comfort. I have a huge one at the moment about 4 x 3 cm but it’s rolling around happily and not causing me discomfort. Just a bit yuck.

thanks for your reply that’s reassuring. Poor you every 6 months ! At least it’s nothing to worry about :)

I’ve had cysts and ultrasound was always enough. I was told that on the ultrasound they can see with what the cyst is filled. If it is a totally black spot , it is a watery type of fluid then you’re fine and there is no need for a biopsy. If there is reason to think it is filled with a non-watery substance then they might take a biopsy.

Ah thank you that’s super helpful ! I think I remember looking at the monitor and the lump being black in colour:)

I had a cyst that they called the consultant in to look at- she confirmed it was most definitely a cyst- totally harmless. She tried to drain it but reckoned it had been there for a long time as the fluid inside it was very sticky and kept clogging up the needle so she left it alone as she said it wasn't doing any harm.

I have had 2 mammograms since and it hasn't changed at all.

So I found a lump in my right breast. It’s hard, small and doesn’t move. The skin that covers it is dark and has been flaking. I don’t want to waste the Doctors time, especially if it’s just a follicle or something but equally it’s playing on my mind. Anyone has anything similar?

@CharEm you need to just go and see your GP, no one can give a diagnosis or reassurance here. Do not worry about ‘wasting the GP’s time’ they would prefer to see people and give the all clear than have people putting it off and things potentially becoming more serious. People go and see their GP for all sorts of things and I’d be amazed if they thought you were a time waster for something like this. Also don’t panic if the GP then refers you to the hospital under a 2 week wait - they simply do not have the right equipment to see the lumps properly and know for certain it’s nothing serious.
PS There are lots of creeps who look at this website so you probably don’t want to share such personal photos in future.
