DS suddenly vomited up his milk on Saturday morning and since then has vomited everyday (though yesterday only once and so far only once this morning). Yesterday he started getting terrible diarrhoea as well. I took him to dr's who said usual 'it's a virus and will work it's way through, don't worry'. I've tried giving him diarolite but he screams and won't touch it. He's eaten virtually nothing since Friday tea time, just the odd tiny piece of toast or a rich tea biscuit. He just lies on the sofa looking forlorn. How long can it go with him not eating and only sipping water? I thought tummy bugs lasted 24 hours. Should I keep tempting him with food or let him not eat in the hope that the bug will then go? Poor darling is so sorrowful. And, as if things aren't bad enough I was bending down in the cupboard under the stairs this morning untangling the hoover/dustpan & brush/broom etc et and the iron fell from the shelf and hit me on the back of the head!

Has he had a high temperature?

The main thing you need to watch out for is dehydration. Don't worry about food; it's fluids that he needs. Have you tried giving him ice lollies?

No he hasn't had a temperature and no I haven't tried the ice lollies. Do you mean just normal ice lollies?

it's good he hasn't got a temperature. Yes, just normal ice lollies, often a good way of getting fluids into kids.

thank you for that - I'll try them.
