Fucking bastard sciatica.

I know it causes my sciatica to flare up but today I did a supermarket shop with a trolley. By the end I was getting twinges but took a painkiller when I got home. And applied a heat pad late this afternoon.

It seems to be getting worse. I have excruciating, nauseous, nasty cunting pain.

Anyone have any remedies? For the short term pain and longer term. I fucking hate this.Sad

Stretching. Lots of different ones.

BunnyBunnyJabberJabber · 07/11/2023 22:03

Sciatica stretches were the only help. You have my sympathy and hope it works for you.

I had an episode last week (used to have it a lot but did exercises daily and it resolved for years). I got my tens machine out and used that and I also did aqua fit even though it was tempting not to due to the pain.

I use a frozen ice pack on the area where it begins and wrap a heating pad around my leg. If you can take anti-inflamatories, take them. Hope you aren't laid up to long.

Thank you @Flyhigher. I followed your advice, got my hole off the sofa, did some stretches, put the bins up and washed the dishes. Thanks

Feeling a bit dizzy now, less in pain and my dishes are done. Time for a cuppa and a kitkat.

Thanks to all who've contributed so far. I've ibuprofen , I'll take it before bed.x. All advice (especially the low/no cost type) gratefully received. I'm pissed off with the pain and the fucking fear of pain.

Heat always been my go to, full body hot water bottles along with painkillers/patches.
(Sciatica is a symptom within a bigger back condition for me)

Flyhigher · 08/11/2023 08:07

I had a particular combination of stretches that I did. When I had it. Also if you are over weight try to loose some weight.

TooBigForMyBoots · 08/11/2023 17:17

I'm not overweight, but I have hypermobility, so have to be careful with stretches and exercise. And I'm not even that old. It's all a bit pants.Sad
