Today they had someone in the school doing an Orthoptic Visual screening programme- A letter sent home is telling me that the vision in his left eye was 'markedly reduced'

It goes on to tell me that an appointment will be offered for further tests at the orthoptic clinic at the hospital.

Should I be overly concerned? What is it al about?

Sounbds like a lazy eye, we seem to have a lot of these threads atm. If so, it is really good to have it picked up while you're little, as it can be treated.

Reduced vision in one eye can be corrected by the child wearing a patch for a few hours a day, along with glasses.

It's quite common, and probably wont' be the only child in is year to have a lazy eye.

Good luck!

tiredemma - I had that same letter. But right eye, not left. Will let you know what happens.
