I had sex with my husband for the first time in 8 months last night (due to having a baby) and he's come out this morning with rash all over his foreskin, red blister looking things. Really small in size but a fair few of them.

Do I need to get tested? I feel really weirded out by it. We did use a condom, so it didn't touch me down there but it did go in my mouth without it.

Sorry to be crude! It was either mumsnet or my gp and I don't think I can say this out loud!

Sounds like a reaction to the condom. Give him some antihistamine

IDontDrinkTea · 05/11/2023 09:39

Sounds like he’s developed a latex allergy or something similar

Twiglets1 · 05/11/2023 09:40

It sounds like an allergic reaction to me, possibly to the condom even if he has used them before.

As above, I would get him to take some antihistamine and if it’s no better in the morning, an appointment with the doctor.

Thanks. He googled and is insistent it's herpes but I don't see how it could spread that quickly and I've not got an active cold sore, I last had one over a year ago. Feeling a bit gross! Will try that

Herpes wouldn't appear so quickly. Get another condom out and get him to pop it in a warm area like an armpit for about half an hour. If he has a reaction in that area then you'll know for sure x

Was it a particularly long or energetic session?

Mine can do that sometimes, kind of a heat rash type of thing, usually if there's not quite been enough lubrication.

Or as previous posters have mentioned, a latex allergy is the most likely culprit. It's unlikely that anything sexually transmitted to cause a rash to develop that quickly.

Has he ever shown any symptoms if herpes? And when did the symptoms start?
As he seems really convinced it’s herpes and If he never had herpes before then i think he needs to be check by his GP. You BOTH want to know for sure if it’s herpes!!

Now what I think will happen is that he will be told it’s not herpes. But I think it’s essential that his mind is put at ease about that. And also that, even if it was herpes, it can’t have been you passing it on to him just now. (But it could be a flare up with a bad timing etc….).

Did you see his penis beforehand? Eg the issue was already there prior to sex...?
