Sore throat, temperature, really unwell, covered in a rash, now also impetigo

Ds1 (8) Was really unwell on thursday and friday with a sore throat with really dark red swollen tonsils with whitish patches, headache, and very lethargic, and very swollen glands. He was also vomiting on Friday night.

He got a lot better over the weekend, but came out all over with a rash. Woke up this morning with impetigo round his mouth (he had one spot yesterday).

Took him to doc who has given him cream for the impetigo, and says the rest is just a virus.

I'm sure() the doctor knows best, but I have been wondering about scarlet fever? The combination of sore throat and rash, along with impetigo (same bacteria?) seems a bit of a coincidence

I bet you her tongue looks completely normal by the time I get her to docs!

Meant to say that I hope they do take me seriously with dd because she was born with a hole in her heart. She has had surgery but apparently she is still more at risk of infections in her heart (needs antibiotics before dental treatment etc) so I hate to thinking of all those nasty bacteria swishing about!

In that case they absolutely must take you seriously wallace. If you have no luck with your GP ask for a second opinion. Good luck-let us know how you get on!

Gp says it could well have been Scarlet Fever, but he can't tell for sure! He says he could take a blood test to be sure, but doesn't really see much need (I agreed)

He says that as they are both well now there is no need to do anything. He says to bring them back if they become unwell. I trust this GP, and he knows my dd's history.

He didn't even think I was mad, in fact when I explained the symptoms, SF was exactly what he was thinking!
