Have had pains in my fingers hands and wrists for a few years now, but as they come and go, ive just used wrist/ hand supports and ibuprofen and just got in with it. However, its been getting steadily worse and daily now so went to doctor and was diagnosed with Carpal Tunnel and given amitriptyline. Now i'm slso having very achy arms. Firstly, has anyone else had this and secondly, what have you found that helps?

Steroid injection in hospital. If that hadn't worked then the next step was going to be surgery which involves wearing a night splint whilst recovering. Luckily the injection worked.

Mine was more a pins and needles sensation, numbness and pain. Tried splinting and other things, anything anyone suggested, I was desperate. Nothing helped. Had electrical currents to assess severity, came back as severe and extremely severe. Had surgery, under local anaesthetic on each one but done with a gap of 6 months between first and second. Started with my right hand as that was dominant. Got a nasty infection with the second which slowed recovery. Surgery permanently (well 10 years on) resolved it.

I have got an electric current shooting up my arm from wrist to elbow type pain and I am wondering if it is this. The doctors fobbed me off six months ago telling me to use ibuprofen rub on it. But it has been getting worse. Also effects my ring and little finger and my grip.

Will follow this thread for any good tips on the pain management.

I send my sympathies.

@RoseMartha look up Cubital Tunnel rather than Carpal Tunnel. The little and ring finger numbness is a sign.

I suffer from cubtial tunnel and I’m having a very bad flare up that has been going on for nearly a month. Physio helps.

Can recommend YouTube Bob and Brad Physical Therapy for carpal and cubital tunnel. Their exercises really help. They are a bit weird, but good at what they do.

@NewtonPulsifer Thank you. I will look into this.

I had carpal tunnel in my right hand particularly and treated it myself with a steel wrist splint overnight and pain killers. I eventually went to the doctor's when that stopped working and the pain and pins & needles was waking me up every night. I saw a consultant about 11months later who gave me a right bollocking for not getting it seen to earlier. The tips of my fingers and thumb were virtually numb and if left it so long that it was causing nerve damage.

I had the operation a week later, took a week off work (office work) and haven't looked back. No more pain or anything.

Is there any evidence that collagen ( oral) helps with CT symptoms?

I have really bad nerve pain (from head to toe) and have been taking amitriptyline for a few months and now it is mostly gone. It took a month or more to start working. I started at 10mg and increased by 10 until now taking 50mg. Give it some time, it might help. Cyproheptadine helped a little too. Before this I tried every supplement on earth plus red light therapy, acupressure, anything you can think of. Nothing worked until I tried these meds.
