What on earth is wrong with me?

I've felt achy for a few days, put it down to lifting DD (5 months) and pram in and out of car etc then today I have woke up and I'm in agony, feels like my bones are rattling.

For a week I've woke up covered in a cold sweat, to the point I've changed the bottom sheet every other day because it's wet.

Can't lift my arms higher than my bust, tops of my arms feel dead like I've been punched in them, legs are barely carrying me and my ribs feel sore, struggling to take a deep breath, can't put my chin to my chest without it hurting and even my jaw hurts.

I don't have a temperature, Covid test negative, no recent vaccinations.

No idea what's wrong with me. I've had flu twice in my life and was hallucinating, temperature, didn't make it out of bed for a week each time and I don't feel like that. No blocked nose or anything.

I've taken 2 co codamol this evening (prescribed for sciatica) just to help ease the aches and pains, running a hot bath as I type.

Any ideas?

Hormones? Lack of vitamins? Sounds like how I was postpartum but quite soon after. Maybe see your GP for blood work? Hope you get an answer and feel better soon x

I think you need to phone 111 tbh
Those symptoms could be viral or they could he really serious (PE)

Funnily enough, I've just started taking high strength vitamin D, iron and vitamin C.

I took vitamin D for a few years before I had DD and continued through pregnancy then suddenly completely forgot that I take it, thanks postpartum brain! (blood tests always show deficiency for me)

I'm dreading DH going to work tomorrow as I really struggled to look after DD today. Could barely lift her 😔 I'll call doctors if I don't feel any better in morning. Thanks x

Hmm I don't have any other symptoms of PE though like swelling or rapid heartbeat. I'll keep an eye on how I'm feeling. Thanks x

That's the only bugger is they rake a while to build up and notice any affects, I've always been low on iron recently found out I'm low b12 and iron and it makes me feel terrible. It's surprising how just lacking something can take a toll on your body! Good luck! X

My ears pricked up when I read this, as a friend has just been diagnosed with polymyalgia rheumatica
https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/polymyalgia-rheumatica/symptoms-causes/syc-20376539
It's the difficulty lifting your arms that rings bells, he described the same, as well as general exhaustion.

In his case, it seems to have been a post-COVID inflammatory condition.

Whatever the cause, the treatment seems to be steroid tablets. In his case, it all resolved fairly quickly once he started a course of oral steroids (within 3 days he felt fine, after about 3 months of feeling awful).

Hope you feel better soon, OP.

Low feretin - low vit d - and /or low b12
Can all make you feel horrendous...

Most uk based folk are vit d deficient in winter

Actimel drink has 1 /3 of daily recommended vit d - i definitely recommend that alongside supplements
I got my vit d from 33 to 77 to 89

Def ask gp to blood test
Feretin
B12
& vit d...

My feretin was just 8 last april
Had iron iv @ hosp - then was 252
Generally it sits around 100..
Id like it higher
Floradix gentle iron made no difference over a month period
Im now trying oral iron spray which i have with orange juice - vit c aids absorption...

I snack on raisins & apricots 4 iron
Often have peas...
And i try & have 2 wheat bisks/ wheatabix a day..

Hope you find the cause

I used to work as a part time nanny - struggled to push a pushchair up a slight hill when my feretin was 8

Also was b12 deficient
Added extra eggs and potato to my diet
